Solving Cingular / ATT multi-media messaging (MMS) "cannot connect please check your profile settings" problems on the Samsung Blackjack / Blackjack 2.

Some of us who had Cingular phones that were updated to AT&T have a problem getting MMS messages. Attempts to download the messages fail with "please check your profile settings" though all visible profile settings are proper.

This is fixed by doing this:

  1. Go to any multimedia message, and click Menu.
  2. Scroll down to Mulimedia Msg. Options.
  3. Select Multimedia message profiles
  4. Assuming AT&T IMS is selected, click Menu and select Edit.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and ensure that AT&T IMS is selected for GPRS.
Not sure why they offer any other choice, but hey.

that? Because if they weren't, then I have no idea. I know the people-waiting-in-two-hour-lines-over-a-week-after-the-thing-was-released feature is complete, because I keep getting thwarted in my attempts to pick up my free 3G phone...

There is no "I" in team by theboz (4.00 / 1) #5 Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 12:05:48 AM EST
There is, however, an "I" in "iPhone", so I'm not sure that we can have a valid argument or debate about the topic.

Personally, I am happy with my $50, no waiting in line Windows Mobile based phone.  The problems with the iPhone and Blackjack are possibly related to the service provider, a former employer of mine, who I know is so fucked up that I would never sign up for their overpriced service anyway.

I've never had a cell provider by MohammedNiyalSayeed (4.00 / 1) #6 Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 12:09:03 AM EST

that didn't suck ass. We all pick and choose our battles in this regard. Verizon, back when they were GTE, burned me four times applying checks I wrote to pay my bill, to other people's bills, despite my printing the account number in the memo section, it being printed on the checks, themselves, and my mailing said checks with the bill that had the account number on it. If they can't keep *that* straight, I will never trust them with my cell business.
