hi guys and girls,

sorry about the delay. everything just went crazy for a while and I totally neglected my duties. But it's well past voting time for PFC4: Friends.

Even I couldn't manage to meet the deadline. sorry.

entries over the fold, vote in the poll

sorry guys had a lot on and forgot about this. I was even too busy to write a WFC entry. I'm busy doing pre-production for a short film for this

BUT ON WITH THE PFC

The theme is "friend". Rules over the fold Update [2007-9-26 19:46:10 by fleece]: EXTENDING THIS TIL THE END OF SEPTEMBER SO I'VE GOT TIME TO TAKE A PHOTO FOR IT. THIS IS WHY TRADITIONALLY THEY DON'T LET EMPLOYEES ENTER COMPETITIONS BECAUSE THEY'LL DIDDLE THINGS TO ADVANTAGE THEMSELVES

is that even his name? long story short, there's a guy who cross-posts here and k5 with a bunch of links each day he's compiled from slashdot, metafilter, etc. It's a great service and i always find something interesting.

he posted one ages ago, it was a comic-book artist that was famous and drew spiderman or something or other, and he did this storyboard of "sample" cliche type comic views that work, eg sillhouettes, light object dark background, etc.

I wish i could find that link. does anyone remember it?

Or do i have to have $1.50 in coins to pay the driver. every time.

I've been quite unwell, so haven't been around much.

I want the photo contest. Yay! I'm not sure of the next theme. Any suggestions? Stark had one.

If I'm well enough by next Saturday June 9th, I'll be departing Sydney to San Francisco. I basically need to decide on Monday if I think I'll be well enough to go by the weekend, to allow time for transfer my flight/room/conference bookings over to someone else at work.

Fleece is coming to San Francisco. June 10th-ish to 16th-ish.

Fleece has never been to America and is not sure what to expect.

Fleece anticipates anal probing at airport, because that's how america welcomes foreigners. At least that's what they're saying on tv and the radio now.

A lot of years ago somebody found you tied to a gate. I wasn't even there but somehow I have a memory of it. The woman at the dog shelter (the one who dresses like a man) was rostered on first shift that day. She found you. She told us how you emerged from knee high grass straining at the rope to greet her.

I can see you hiding in that grass.

I can see you straining on that tattered rope.

when i write i don't really care about the story at all. i just like the rhythm of language, and how ideas make you feel. so i guess it's like art, i just care about you're emotional response to it. If there's something cerebral going on, it's just because it's a handy framework, but that's not how it starts. It usually starts with a purely visual image, then it's purely aural, and the rest is what the reader applies, based on their life experience. I think that last bit is like, 80% of it, the reader's bit. like your favourite bit is the bit you put there.
